Winning Cover for The Escape Artist E-book
Thank you for all your votes! I tallied up the votes both here and on Facebook and this image is the clear winner with 34 votes. Second place was the little boy peering over the woman’s shoulder (24), which I have to admit fits the book very well, but one reader mentioned that the little boy gave her “the creeps” and that sort of wrecked the image for me. Third place was the woman carrying the suitcase (17). I liked them all, so I’m going with your choice, which I think really captures Kim and Cody (aka Susanna and Tyler) and the water setting of Annapolis, Maryland. The original image has no color in the sky and water, so I added it. I’ll do a neater job of it in the finished product, but I actually like that the picture has a “painterly” quality to it, since that fits the story of a mural artist.
The cover image that received the fewest votes (2) was this one on the lower left, which I actually like because the story is very much about Kim and the secrets of her computer, but clearly it didn’t grab anyone other than me!
Thanks again for your help. I’ll be prettying up the cover image a bit, adding my name and the title, and as soon as I finish editing the very messy scan of the book, it will be ready to upload as an ebook.
Good choice Diane…I chose F but this was my second pick and I think it will really grab reader’s attention.
Diane, I assume MIDWIFE is all done now except for publishing and releasing next Spring…you mentioned a brainstorming session while you were stranded at TopSail…has a new idea developed for a new WIP?…just curious…you probably dont want to talk about it yet and you’re definitely due for a long vacation but once you put that little bug in our ear ‘brainstorming’, it makes me wonder (-O:
Margo, I was thinking through some changes I was considering for The Waif, but I think I’m going to go with my original plan…
What have I missed? THE WAIF???
Is the WAIF really the WIFE???
Brenda, The Waif is the working title for my 2012 book. I’m sure it will change because people are already having problems with it!
I must have missed this…have you told us what it is about
The Waif…yes I know what it means…but I thought it was the Wife…short for Midwife…etc.
Nope, it’s The Waif. I’m just starting it, so won’t reveal too much about it. I’ve written the proposal, which my editor loves, and I’m in the process of tweaking it. Soon I’ll be getting out my big three-act plotting board. I already love the characters. . . particularly the waif.
