The Book Launch for Before the Storm
Here are a few pictures from the event.
I’m getting ready to speak in this shot, above. I’m afraid I’m at that age where, to be comfortable, I need not only a bottle of water and reading glasses, but my personal mini-fan as well.
Here, I’m describing how my characters talk to me. I was getting some strange looks from a few of the audience members!

Part of my neighborhood bookclub showed up to give me support (no, this is not the entire club! I think we must have the biggest book club in North Carolina). They wore these little labels that read “I’m a friend of Diane’s” and “Diane and I read the same books.” I was so touched by their show of support!
All in all, it was a wonderful night. I hope people went home happy and that Before the Storm is keeping them well entertained!

Oh Diane, those fans were SO LUCKY! I wish I could have been there…too bad for those who didn’t get a copy of the book and I hope Quail Ridge gets more soon! You look simply beautiful and it must have been overwhelming to have such wonderful support from people and friends. I only have 70 pgs left in BEFORE THE STORM and can’t put it down!…I’m being very naughty right now and reading it at my desk when I should be working, but it comes honestly…how can anyone concentrate on anything else when reading a Diane Chamberlain novel! I’m reading until I finish it and that’s all there is to it because I LOVE this story…I would have finished it last nite but it was already 2 a.m. and with the fact I had to be up at 4 a.m. I decided I should get at least 2 hrs. sleep, right? (-:
Diane – what a wonderful day – thanks for sharing that! And what a fabulous group of fans you have! I’m looking forward to doing some serious Diane Chamberlain reading once I get this manuscript polished and sent off.

Just finished BEFORE THE STORM and I’m completely in ‘awe’ of Diane…what an incredibly driven story that held me in it’s grasp from the 1st page till the very end. I found it impossible to turn away and held this book in my hands constantly, wherever I went. Diane, I applaud you once again and can hardly wait for the sequel…I probably sound selfish when I say ‘plz write faster’!! (-:

Diane, I haven’t been able to work all day as your characters are still with me…and I keep envisioning the sequel…sorry, but it’s a lost day workwise.
Not sure about everyone else, but our city and state is a disaster due to flooding. What normally takes me 10 minutes to drive to work is now taking 30-45 minutes because of all the detours. I have friends with over 4 ft of water in their basements who have lost so much…and we’re suppose to get MORE rain! Take care everyone who is also in this situation.

My granddaughters were evacuated last weekend to their other grandparents. They live in Johnson County, Indiana…they were able to return home as soon as the water receded…they were so frightened. I feel so much for those across the country with the floods and tornadoes…
Brenda, I sent you an e-mail this a.m. but will answer your question in this blog also…you asked me which character I ‘got into’ the most. Well I doubt that everyone else will agree with me but I ‘got into’ Laurel more than any of the others and Marcus second. I won’t say much more as too many others probably have not finished the book. I absolutely can’t wait for the sequel!
Diane, Did you hire an assistant? I keep thinking I need to get someone to do the house…I have no time…Right now, I have a couple doing the yard, so the house will have to wait. I keep it up pretty good, but I don’t enjoy doing that anymore with all the other work…I am probably too picky…

I’ve just started reading BEFORE THE STORM. I’m enjoying the final version. I’ve only read the first two chapters, but I’m impressed with the way you’ve developed Andy’s character. I can’t wait to finish reading the book. Harry and I just got back from a Topsail Island trip. You are spot on with the setting for BEFORE THE STORM. I feel like I’m there.
I also love the new look of your Web site and blog. I haven’t been here in awhile and it looks great.

Great pictures!! I guess your next book signing will be Topsail Island. I love the Quarter Moon Book Store. The people there are so nice and always have great suggestions for my “next read”. Hope your trip there will be fun with good weather.

I’m doing fine Diane and Ann, but other’s aren’t. Gary & I live on a hill so fortunately we’ve had very little water in the basement…I feel so bad for our neighbors behind us as they are down in a valley and have evacuated their house! Lots of evacuations and flooding everywhere. Thx everyone for asking and caring.

I could not put down you book before the storm. I could relate to many stories that where in the book. Starting with Andy and his disabilites. I have a brother that is handicaped. I felt a connection with Maggie and Laurel had in protecting Andy. I had been going though alot resently with a break up and you definately made me realize also that I do have the the Gift of Empanthy. Thanks so much of making be aware of that. It just might help me understand why I let people get away with alot of things. I can’t wait to read another book of yours. You are very talented…. thanks a bunch…
