Decking the Halls!

Every year, Margaret Maron invites our little writers’ coven to her house in the country to gather greenery for our homes. Today was the day and it was perfect: 58 degrees and sunny. Margaret and her granddaughter Natalie took us for a tour through the rosemary, boxwoods, cedars, holly, and nandina in the Maron’s spiffy new golf cart! Afterward we gathered in Margaret’s sunny dining room for lunch. The only negative was that Sarah Shaber couldn’t make it and the others in our group (Mary Kay Andrews and Alexandra Sokoloff) now live too far away for an afternoon jaunt. Katy (Munger) presented each of us with Santa hats and Brenda (Witchger) gave us all lanterns and little boxes of matches labeled with our book covers! Cute or what??

Now I’m home and my house smells green and amazing! How are you gearing up for the holidays?

Diane, I love the friendship you have with Margaret and all your other writer friends. How wonderful that she has you for a Cmas get-together and makes it so special! Would have been so nice if your 2 other writing friends could have been there…how clever-the matchbook covers!…
Love this time of year…I’m on vacation from work till Jan 2 and enjoying every minute of it. Being off gives me more time to be spend with family, decorate and wrap packages. We’re pretty well set for the Holidays now…everything decorated and gifts wrapped and ready to give to loved ones. I’m just waiting for it to snow! Usually our ground is covered with white by now but the last snow we had has melted…we’re hoping for a white Cmas.

Such a fun time that must have been. The matchbook covers are such a clever idea. I love the fact that Margaret’s granddaughter took part in this outing. She will probably keep the memories of this day forever.
