A Happy/Unhappy Post

The happy part: my good friend and fellow writer Margaret Maron is going to be fine after being injured in a car accident yesterday.

The unhappy part: yesterday was the launch of her new book, Christmas Mourning. Margaret missed her launch party at Quail Ridge Books last night and she’ll miss a couple of other appearances and the twice yearly retreat our gang of writers will make next week to the Weymouth Mansion. It’s just not going to be the same without Margaret there to help us brainstorm, munch Cheetos, and beat us at Balderdash. The mystery in Christmas Mourning, which is part of Margaret’s fabulously popular Deborah Knott series, involves a car accident, but I think Margaret’s taken the promotion of the book just a little too far this time! I’m just glad the outcome of Margaret’s accident was nowhere near as tragic as that in her book.

John made the video above, with me off camera asking Margaret the questions. Her easy-going and engaging personality really comes across in the video, just as it does in her books. You’ll fall in love with Deborah and the gang, so if you’re a mystery reader, I hope you’ll give Christmas Mourning a try.

Heal quickly, Margaret!

I am SO sorry about the accident. Goodness, what a terrible time for it to happen (if it had to happen at all). I am glad she will be okay. I’m sure she is going to hate missing that retreat! Get well quickly, Margaret!
