The Many Lives of CeeCee Wilkes

ceecee coversThe Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkes is back again, this time as a mass market (small-sized) paperback. Her cover is nearly identical to the trade paperback cover, which I’ve always loved. I’m so happy she’ll (yes, I think of this book as a ‘she’ instead of an ‘it’) have a chance to reach those readers who love the smaller books.

I thought I’d show you a few of the faces CeeCee’s had in the last few of years. The new paperback is in the center. Starting in the upper right hand corner and going clockwise: the North American trade paperback, the Australian version (A Beautiful Lie), the German version, the Finnish version, the French version, The Norwegian hardcover, the Norwegian paperback, the United Kingdom version (The Lost Daughter), and CeeCee’s first incarnation: the North American hardcover.

Meanwhile. . . I’m a little more than a week away from my deadline on The Midwife’s Confession and right now it’s impossible to imagine this book finished with any cover, much less all of these! So I’d better get back to work.

    Lovely
What’s the date for the new book? May 30 or June 1? I keep getting various dates on different sites…I preordered mine, but I want to decide if I want to do that or wait…sometimes when I preorder, it takes longer. Can’t wait…

Brenda, I know it gets confusing. The official release date for The Lies We Told is June 1, but books are always in the stores (and Amazon, B and N etc,) the Tuesday before. Since June 1 is a Tuesday, I THINK that would also be the first sale date. Clear as mud!

    Can’t wait…
Have to rec. a little novel-a fast read but so meaninful…BETWEEN FRIENDS by Kristy Kiernan-really liked it-will loan it to friends. One problem-my usual-getting used to the different voices…sometimes difficult to tell between the two women-but a powerful message in the book. Am reading Elizabeth Berg’s latest-it arrived yesterday…it is good so far…

This is the biggest problem I’m having with The Midwife’s Confession, Brenda–differentiating between three women’s voices. Very difficult, because they are all of a similar age with similar backgrounds. Different personalities, but it’s still very challenging to make them READ differently. Working on it. . .

Brenda and everyone: I just learned that the on sale date WILL be May 25th, the Tuesday prior to June 1. Hope that helps.

I hope the book is in one of the bookstores around here-I cancelled my online order just in case. I am going to go to the mall and get it to have for the weekend. Now, Margo, you know if I buy that book on Tuesday, I won’t keep it until the weekend-maybe my second read will be that weekend. I am excited too.
Finished Berg’s book last night-interesting because it was about a 40th reunion, and I am doing our school’s ALL ALUMNI reunion again this year (sponsored by my class (our 45th)…however, there was little depth in the book and too short to have so many characters…oh well…I still enjoyed it.

Lol Brenda…I know you so well…if the book is out the Tues before the 3 dayer, I know you’ll read it immediately…who knows, I might be doing the same thing, altho it sounds perfect to me to wait for the 3 days and do nothing but read THE LIES WE TOLD.
I finished reading CAUGHT by Harlen Coben and loved it!…am now reading a book Brenda recommended SEASON OF SECOND CHANCES…I picture Brenda as the main character because she’s a professor. (-O:
