Flickr! Way Cool

CollesanoOriginally uploaded by lorca56

This has nothing to do with writing, but my brother Rob told me about a site some of you may already be familiar with: Flickr.com. You can upload your photographs to share with friends, but better yet (at least to me) you can search for photos, many of which can be legally uploaded to your blog. (For copyright info, click on the picture above or on the tiny letters to the right of it).
To test Flickr, I typed “Collesano” in the search engine. This is the town in Sicily where my paternal grandparents grew up. Since I’m toying with geneology, I’ve been hunting for a picture of the village with little success. On Flickr, 30 images popped up! Only a few were of the town itself, but I love this one. I hope to visit Collesano one of these days.
On the writing front, I’m determined to finish my proposal for AFTER THE STORM this week. More about that in a couple of days.

I hope you get to Italy someday Diane, especially since your ancestors are from there. You’ll love it! I’m not sure where Collesano is but I’ve been to Florence and if it’s anything like that, you’ll feel like a part of history when you go.

Margo, I think Collesano is more of a speck on the map. I’ve been to Italy (looong ago) and loved it, but never to Sicily.
As for Flickr, I thought of you and your art. This could be a way for you to upload images of your paintings and allow people who want to see your work to access it. There’s a way to make a private gallery so only the people you want to see your work can go to it.

Diane, thx for this great info…I’ll have Gary explore Flickr after we’re thru with the Dog Show which starts this weekend. Preparation for this show is taking up most our time this week but it’s very exciting! (-:

    Sis-
Glad you’re enjoying Flickr. I’m going to put that great picture on my blog as well.

Margo, can’t wait to hear how your painting goes at the dog show!

Thx Diane! The show was written up in the paper yesterday mentioning this as a National Show with over 2000 dog entries from 40+ states AND overseas. I can’t wait to see all these beautiful breeds from around the world. I’m fortunate to have my booth right in front facing ring side so I can watch the show while I demonstrate my painting. (-:
