Absolutely Nothing to do with Writing

Well, that’s not completely true. I’ve discovered a new soundtrack to write to. Beautiful, haunting boys’ choir music from the lovely little movie, THE CHORUS. It’s playing right now as I type.
long couch.jpgSo, here is the red sectional. It’s very very red! I love it, or at least I expect to love it when the rest of the room is in sync with it. The walls will be a deep taupe and John’s vivid floral photographs will be on the wall above it. We’re going crazy (well, I am. John is able to not think about these things) trying to figure out what to do for a coffee table. There’s not much room for an end table at the one end of the sectional, so the coffee table really must serve everyone, which means it will be a monster or else something creative, like nesting tables. the ones i’ve seen i don’t like. any ideas? we both love the noguchi table (right), but i don’t think it’s big enough. also, we HAVE to be able to put our feet on it. this is our comfy room, nothing formal about it.
the boys.jpgWhile I had the camera out, the boys were looking so cute, I had to take their picture. That’s Jet on the left and Keeper on the right. They’re being attentive only because it’s time for dinner. 🙂

It’s beautiful and so is the table! Can’t you just put your feet on that table? Nobody’s looking 🙂 Can you get the table in a larger size? Seems as if Keeper likes it too 🙂

I love your new sectional Diane!…what about 2 nogichi tables placed in the middle at different angles…looks to me like there would be plenty of room for 2.
Don’t know about putting feet on them, tho…friends of mine have a modern looking coffee table in front of their large sectional which is a ‘marble’ look and is absolutely gorgeous…is heavy enough to put their feet on, stack books and things on it, looks beautiful, modern and not formal…it’s in their ‘comfy’ room and is perfect…large enough for everyone to use since no room for tables on the sides…theirs is a black marble look with swirls of white throughout but also came in a tan and ivory marble look. Your ‘boys’ are beautiful…this pic would make gorgeous cards!

Lorene, the table only comes in one size. Mr Noguchi was not counting on sectionals when he created it in the 40’s!
Margo, I’d love a big marble or travertine table. if you know where your friends got it, please tell me.

Diane, they’ve had the table for awhile (actually they have a large marble square type coffee table in the ‘comfy’ room, long rectangle marble table in the living room and large marble dining room table)…these were bought at 1 these stores…either Nebraska Furniture Mart, Homemaker’s Furniture (a division of Nebr. Furniture Mart) or American Furniture…I believe all have websites with cust. service online where you could inquire)…these tables are all gorgeous but not sure if they are still available…probably were purchased appx. 10 years ago but I would think there would be someone who would carry marble tables…If we ever move or extend our ‘comfy’ room, I would love to have a marble coffee table in front of the sofa………..

Thanks Margo. I’ll check into it. North Carolina is a huge furniture manufacturing state, so maybe I’ll have some luck.

My son (and others) have chosen to by pass the coffee tables and use large beautiful ottomans that double as coffee table/foot rest…they are great…
    I am old fashioned-stick with coffee tables-but wish I hadn’t.
    Lovely sofa…

My stepdaughter, too, brenda. we’re considering it, but we still like the idea of a table.

Pardon this hillbilly’s ignorance of Noguchi 🙂 The table is just so beautiful and I hope you can use it.

Love the red sectional but, then, red is my color. 🙂 And my next sofa must red!
