Satisfying Sectionals

I left one thing out of my previous post: We also shopped for a sectional. Do you guys like either of these? Whoops, I mean do y’all like either of these? I really have to let some Carolina into my speech!
tivoli new.jpgAnyhow, this one is black leather, but we’d get it in a milk or dark chocolate brown. It’s big. Maybe too big. It’s John’s fave.
San-Tropez-sectional-web.jpgAnd this one is a nice dark brown leather that we’d probably stick with, only we’d add another piece on the short side to give us more seating. I’m open to any and all design advice! My neighbor, who is a wonderful designer, thinks we should do the two sofa thing and that a sectional (which we actually have now in a sage green upholstery) makes one side of the room too heavy, but we LIKE sectionals.
 Decisions, decisions.

Sectionals are fine…however…the leather—even if it is very expensive leather-in the south-I found that everytime I went to someone’s house who had leather couches-they were not comfortable-even the house with the maid-and in the middle of December…either sliding off-no kidding–or in the summer-whew…
My husband’s sister bought one a few years ago-near where we live-and every time I go there, I dread sitting on it…sorry…but I think a lovely uphols…sofa, love seat, and chairs…
In the south-there are so many great ones from which to choose.

P.S. I love your comment “stick with” because that’s how I feel about leather in vehicles or homes…sorry.

LOL! Our interior designer neighbor feels the same way about leather. I’ve never lived with it, so I can’t say, but John loves it and always found it to be very dog-friendly. (he used to breed Bernese Mountain dogs.) It’s the one piece of furniture my dogs are allowed on, and their comfort comes first!

I have two cars with leather upholstery and find that it doesn’t get too hot in the summer or cold in winter. LOVE IT! Real leather is VERY comfortable. It is the imitation that is the problem.
    I also love sectionals!
I think I like John’s choice between these two but really can’t see enough detail.

Right on, Diane…our doggies have always come first too!!…we have leather in our TV/family room and LOVE it…it is SOOOOOOOOOO comfy!!…my husband’s fav chair is all in leather and we have a matching sofa and loveseat in the same room…and yes, Kramer can get on them!!…we always have comfy blankets to curl up with if its winter but we are never uncomfortable on our leather…I really like John’s choice best…sectionals are great…I say ‘go for it’…(-:

Oh, john will be soooo happy with you two, M and L. I couldn’t make those pictures bigger for some weird reason, but will try to do so later today. maybe then you’ll prefer my choice. 🙂 mine is significantly more expensive, though, so john may win on this one.

Sorry guess I am the lone one out…but it was real leather that bothered meof course that was living in South Carolina-hot and humid.
We also owned a lovely luxury car with leather seats-which I didn’t like…
    So-don’t listen to me…
    Have fun choosing…

Brenda, you and my interior designer agree, so you’re not the only one.
