A Favorite Artist

If you’re familiar with my blog commenters, you know that I have a very faithful fan in Margo Petrus. Well, Margo is also a terrific artist, and at my request, she sent me some pictures from a recent art fair where she displayed her wballoons.jpgork. Here she is sketching a portrait of her dog, Kramer, with a beautiful painting of macaws in the foreground. And here is a recent painting of hot air balloons. Margo and I have never met, but we have a mutual admiration thing going on. I’m lucky to own a couple of her paintings. Isn’t she terrific?

She is terrific!! And not just as an artist, as a friend too!! I’m her #1 fan (besides her family!) at and away from the easel. I hope you two can meet someday–and maybe I can come along for the ride!

I’m overwhelmed with such kind words, (Margo is blushing right now)…’ditto’ to both Diane and Laura…you are both exceptional…

Margo is a beautiful artist and a true friend!! You should see some of her watercolor pencil work …just wonderful!!! The paintings that she did of her dogs, macaws and her mother were just stunning!!!

Lorene, thank you for the nice comment…I’ve had alot of people ask for a website and I’m in the process of working on that…I work a full time job which I start at 6 a.m. and when I leave for home around 3 p.m. I immediately start painting at my easel till dinner (which my semi-retired husband plans and prepares, thank goodness..he’s a gem)…I paint and draw everyday and sometimes late into the nite (unless I’m glued to a Diane Chamberlain novel!!)…between my day job, painting commissions for people and preparing artwork for various art shows I barely have had time for the website, but I do have a graphics friend helping me with a future site…meanwhile, if people are interested in seeing my work I have several paintings that have been scanned that I can forward by e-mail or I have lots of photos I can mail by snail mail…plz let me know if interested and I’ll be sure that you get to see them…(-:

Lorene, I have one of Margo’s macaw paintings–the birds are blue in this one–which she had transferred to a ceramic tile. It’s gorgeous! But my favorite remains a very simple painting of a cardinal on a white background, which she sent me beautifully framed. It’s a treasure.

Thank you Diane…you know, for years I’ve painted everything from oceanscapes to pet portraits, landscapes to family portraits but something always draws me back to painting birds…I think it must be their gorgeous colors but more than that, the fact that they are so ‘free’…to expand their wings and fly…I love them…a few weeks ago my husband and I took Kramer for a walk at our favorite nearby lake and as we walked along the trail an enormous Blue Heron flew over us…we were totally captivated by his grace…appropriately I have just started a new painting of a Blue Heron which I’ve titled ‘Free’…

    Lucky you!
I’m sure I saw that one and it is gorgeous but I also saw a colorful one I loved! She sent another but I haven’t managed to get it all to download yet. It must be huge. I am just in awe of her talent after seeing those two!
