I am, Like, so Totally Out of It

Scrunchies are out and have been for a long time. I just disvoered this by watching a rerun of an old Sex and the City in which one of the characters is grossed out by a woman who wears scrunchies. Then I read  in a ‘what’s hot and what’s not’ column how scrunchies are definitely O-U-T. Then I saw the movie IN HER SHOES in which the cute sister says to the ugly sister: “!994 called. It wants its scrunchie back.” Ouch!
Ok, i admit it: I love my scrunchies, those wonderful soft fabric bands that let me quickly and painlessly lift my hair into a pony tail to get it off my neck during a hot flash. But now I have the dilemma; do I still wear scrunchies in public? Will I be mocked (behind my back, of course) at the Opium Den? And why on earth do I care? I remember the poem, When I am Old, I will Wear Purple. Do they make purple scrunchies?

Alright…noone responded so I will…I just met with my book group and we saw at least 3 people wearing scrunchies at the bookstore. It’s at least 100 degrees heat index today and I don’t think anyone cares what’s in their hair today as long as they are cool…personally I wear a HUGE barrett to hold my hair up off my neck because a scrunchie falls out…I’m not sure if the giant barrett is in style or not and I quess I don’t care…my neck is staying cool today…(-:

I’ve seen your picture, M, and Your hair is so gorgeous, it doesn’t matter what you have holding it up.

Laura wants to know if she’s going to get arrested by the fashion police if she wears the scrunchie in her hair…I told her to be on the safe side and I’ll loan her a barrett………….(-:

Thank you for the compliment Diane…my hair’s in another huge barrett today and probably will be the rest of the week as our heat index rises over 107…in honor of you, Laura has her hair in a purple scrunchie today…

Wore a scrunchie most of the fall and spring…this summer-because of no hormones-went and had my hair cut in the shortest bob possible-but I love them-and buy them for my little granddaughters…they are in (in beautiful colors)

    P.S.
I don’t care how you wear your hair…I don’t care what you wear…I don’t care where you live or what you do-as long as you continue to write…I am a very choosy reader-and I don’t think any authors’ books have moved me more than yours…

P.S. Woops….I had better add that I am in LOVE WITH SHAKESPEARE and this summer when I attended Humanities Institute in London with other teachers-I was in heaven sitting on the boat on THE THAMES before THE GLOBE…and added to another, “NOW, I have ridden on THE THAMES, seen THE GLOBE, and now all I have to do is meet D. Chamberlain-my life will be great…:) 🙂 🙂
Now you realize that I have loved Shakespeare (and teach it) most of my life…he amazes me…
    D. C. is a fairly new discovery and of course, the teacher knew that I just enjoy her books so much because I need time to de-stress. IN FACT it was another teacher who introduced me to D’s books…
Diane-when teachers are reading you-with as much as we have to do-grading essays and research papers-you know you are good because we do not waste our time…:) 🙂
