Story Weekend: What's Your Sign? Your Astrology Story.

http://www.dreamstime.com/-image21704999Yes, there was truly a time when that was a serious pick-up line, though I don’t think it worked very often. Even though I don’t put much stock in astrology, I have to admit I am such a Pisces! I have all the good parts—empathy, sensitivity, sensitive, caring, creativity—along with all the not-so-good parts I don’t feel like listing right now.  😉

So what’s your astrology story? Does your personality fit your sign? Did you choose your spouse because of his or her sign? Did you plan your pregnancies so your child’s sign would be compatible with yours? (Don’t laugh! I know a woman who did exactly that, then delivered a month early. Ha!)

If  you’re new to Story Weekend, here’s how it works: I pick a theme and you share something from your life that relates to that theme, however you interpret it. Thanks to all of you who’ve been contributing. As always, there are a few “rules”:

▪   The story must be true

▪   Try to keep it under 100 words. Embrace the challenge! That’s about six or seven lines in the comment form. I want others to read your story, and most people tend to skip if it’s too long. I know how tough it is to “write tight” but I hope you’ll accept this as a challenge.

I come from the land of The Age of Aquaris, cue music. I HAVE to be near water to know that my soul is settled, dance to my own drummer, walk where angels fear to tread and absolutely Love dipping my toe into the confines of conformity just to see how far my ripples wil go and absolutley believe in the inherent good in Everyone until they give me a reason not to. I love all kinds of creativity without biase, am a loyal friend and if that makes me sound just a little bit nutty, well, you have been warned:]

Sheree, I would have guessed Aquarius without you telling me! Maybe there is something to this after all…

Oh, I find myself very intrigued with astrology and the signs. I am a Scorpio. I think when I was younger, the weakness traits were dominate but as I age, I am so mellow and very loyal to my friends. I’ve never been a control freak as they describe but perhaps I’m in denial. LOL
I have never married for a man’s sign. I do ask tho. My kids were planned but not according to any particular sign.
I do love the lakes and oceans the scorpio’s are so famous for. I love the outdoors period. No real stories to go along with this, just fun to see how sometimes your sign can be so right!

Diane I’m a Pisces also with strong Aquarius tendencies, but my “story” has nothing to do with that, just something that comes to my mind whenever the astrology subject comes up. We were vacationing in Sanibel when Hurricane Elena bore down on the Tampa Bay area and closed all the causeways and bridges to the island, so we were unable to come home. Grandparents were staying with our three teenage boys, and apparently one of them took advantage of the situation and partied too much returning home rather unsteady. He knocked over (and smashed) a huge plaster astrology wall thing I was in the process of painting; so Grampa phoned us saying “Something is wrong with Ricky – he has broken your VOO DOO thing.”

I think I am a little late for Story Weekend, but it looks like I am not the only one This was a very quite subject. Being a teen in the 70’s, the Horoscope was a big part of our coming of age. I know that everyday I read mine I really didn’t take it too seriously. Our preacher preached that the first part of Horoscope was the word HORO…meaning of course it was of the devil. I never believed that either. But it was fun and yes that was always an important part of meeting someone new. What sign are you? I think I never took it seriously because I never felt I fit in with mine. I was born on August 22. Well a long time ago, I never knew if I was a Leo or a Virgo It just depended on whose version of the Horoscope I read. I guess they finally refined their craft, because I am almost always a Leo now. Although I don’t think I fit in..Let’s review Orange is suppose to be one of my favorite colors. Well It is the Color I hate the most. Born Leaders and Entertainers??? Not in my make up. But I remember how much fun trying to keep up with it was fun.

I’m not a massive believer of astrology, but I do think that some signs are more compatible than others. I was rather puzzled that you referred to Aquarius as being a water sign in Keeper of the Light when it is an air sign. The 3 water signs are Pisces, Cancer and Scorpio. All signs of the zodiac follow the sequence Air, Water, Fire, Earth. Many people assume that because Aquarius is the water bearer it is a water sign. Not so – sorry!

Elaine, in the 22 years Keeper of the Light’s been in existence, you’re the first person to point that out. Live and learn!
